Asin faced the cameras when she was fifteen in the Malayalam movie Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka (2001). Her 2003 Telugu movies Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammay and Shivamani won her the Filmfare Best Telugu Actress Award and the Santosham Best Actress Award respectively.
2004 to 2006
asin continued to work in Telugu hits like Lakshmi Narasimha and Gharshana in 2004. She went back to deliver a hit in the Tamil movie M Kumaran son of Mahalakshmi. While Chakram failed Ullam Ketkumae, Sivakashi and Majaa were hits in 2005. The Tamil movie Ghajini, also released in 2005, was a blockbuster and won her the Filmfare Best Tamil Actress Award. Her two movies in 2006 Varalaru, a Tamil movie and Annavaram, a Telugu movie were successful.
